Garnet Ghost Town

A trip out to the Lubrecht Experimental Forest on film.

After losing my job at the beginning of September, I needed to clear my head. I loaded my bag with some cameras, film, and my light meter and headed to Garnet Ghost Town in the Lubrecht Experimental Forest outside of Missoula. Shot on Mamiya C330 F with my 80mm and 180mm on HP5 400, and my M4 with a 28mm with a yellow filter on Kentmere 400 pushed to 800.

I had been to Garnet about nine years ago. Some of it I remembered, but I was coming to it with a different perspective.

As I ascended into the mountains, the atmosphere was hazy. How many times did I pull over to grab my camera and take some shots?

The local folk were out and about.

It’s so wild to step back in time and see how we used to live.

My brother gave me a paramender for Christmas, and I was glad I brought it.

As I sat at the picnic table eating lunch, getting swarmed birds after my sandwich, I reflected on where I’m at in life, and what the next chapter holds.
